Vernon Otto “Sonny Boy” Richardson was born March 26, 1939 to the late Vernon and Mary Avent Richardson. He departed this life on January 29, 2020.
Vernon joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age and later moved to Social Union Baptist Church.
Vernon was a long time employee of Brigadier Homes of Nashville, NC. He was known throughout the community for his excellent workmanship of cabinets and other wood items.
Vernon was united in holy matrimony to the late Leona Lynch Richardson and to this union three daughters were born. He was always a loving family man and took his love of building and shared this trade with his grandsons. Vernon made sure to create memorable moments with his family.
He leaves to cherish his memories: three daughters, Tami Harrison (Wesley) and Glynis Edmonds (Haywood) both of Nashville, NC and Tonja Whitaker (Shawn) of Whitakers, NC; a very special friend, Joyce Richardson; seven grandchildren, Chantal, Brandon (Sophia), Jarren (Delicia), Brittni, Chasity, Shawn, and Shakel; eight great grandchildren, Jayvien, Kyan, Saniya, Kamari, Mason, Kailey, Marley and Garrett; his stepmother, Vertica Richardson; six sisters, Peggy Mills of Rocky Mount, NC, Collean Williams of Littleton, NC, Eloise Edwards of New Haven, CT, Mary West of Enfield, NC, Clara Richardson of Rocky Mount, NC, and Jeanette Richardson of Enfield, NC; four brothers, Roger Richardson of Dunn, NC, Tony Richardson (Deborah) of Durham, NC, James Richardson (Viola) of Rocky Mount, NC and Steve Richardson of Enfield, NC; three sisters-in-law, Annie B. Richardson, Cleonia Lynch and Francis Richardson; two brothers-in-law, Bobby Scott and Claudie Richardson; an adopted son, Keith Richardson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
