Obituary

    Julius “Calvin” Holden, Jr., son of the late Julius P. Holden and Betty Holden LeMay, was born in Louisburg, North Carolina on May 9, 1960 and departed this life on May 14, 2020 at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was educated in the Franklin County School System. He later worked various jobs, starting out with his beloved step-father, George L. LeMay.

    Julius joined Perry Missionary Baptist Church in Louisburg, North Carolina. 

    He was married to Sheila D. Holden, and together they hadasw` eight children. 

    Julius was preceded in death by his father, Julius P. Holden; his mother, Betty Holden LeMay; two brothers, George C. Holden and Earnest L. Cannady; his step-father, George L. LeMay; his father-in-law, Charlie Trader; and three nephews, Andrey Jones, Antwon Cannady, and Tyquan Holden.

    He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Sheila D. Holden of the home; three daughters, Shaheede R. Strickland of Knightdale, NC, Julisa J. Holden of Louisburg, NC, and Britney D. Holden of Youngsville, NC; five sons, Julius P. Holden and Jay J. Holden both of Henderson, NC, Marcus R. Richardson of Charlotte, NC, Kelvin Yarborough of Louisburg, NC, and Jamar D. Strickland of Raleigh, NC; nineteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; six sisters, Hattie Crudup, Shirley Holden, Teresa Closs (Eugene), Gwen Holden, and Cheryl Holden all of Louisburg, NC and Annette Holden Alston (McDonald) of Kittrell, NC; two brothers, Michael D. Holden (Regina) of Henderson, NC and Matthew T. Holden of Bunn, NC; thirteen step-sisters; two step-brothers; three uncles and four aunts; his mother-in-law, Rev. Bernice Richardson; one brother-in-law, Vincent Trader; one sister-in-law, Judy Evans (Johnny); a very special friend, Paul Thorne; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones, and friends.

    Calvin, as most of us knew him, was full of life and very close to his family. He will be truly missed, not sometimes, but all times and everyday. He was loving, kind, and willing to help anyone. The conversations he had, as well as the way he laughed, stood, sat, and hugged will all be memories we will hold forever in our hearts.
