Willie Melvin Alston, son of the late Andrew Alston and Ozell White, was born in Franklin County, North Carolina on July 19, 1946. In the afternoon of November 19, 2017, he answered the call of the Lord to return to Him.
Willie grew up in Franklin County, North Carolina where he received his education. He later moved to Washington, District of Columbia and stayed awhile. He then returned to Louisburg, North Carolina to be close to family and friends.
He joined the Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early age and later moved his membership to the Nelson Chapel Baptist Church.
Willie was a man who liked the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing and cutting grass for the nearby neighbors. He was employed by Tony Sawmill for many years and later work at Maco in Youngsville, North Carolina and was there for about eight years before retiring.
Willie was united in holy matrimony to Ora Mae Dickey. From this union, he gained four stepchildren, Lucinda, Rudella, Jonathan and Larry. Willie was preceded in death by his stepson, Larry.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Ora Mae Dickey Alston of the home; two stepdaughters, Lucinda Hinton of Raleigh, NC and Rudella Dunbar of Georgia; one stepson, Jonathan Dickey of Delaware; three grandchildren, Shana, Andrecia and BriAnna all of Raleigh, NC; eight great grandchildren, Kayden, Noah, Zachary, Carter, Mason, McKoi, McKenzy and Madison all of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, James Terrell of Louisburg, NC and John Alston of Portland, ME; four nephews, Mark High, Dennis, Kenneth and TJ Alston all of Louisburg, NC; one brother-in-law, Isaiah Green of Louisburg, NC; a host of other relatives and friends.
