Willie Lee Edmonds, son of the late Lillie Rebecca Williams Edmonds and late Ulyses “Honey” Edmonds, was born May 14, 1937. He departed this life November 26, 2019.
Willie was a faithful church member at Bunn Chapel Missionary Baptist Church until his health declined.
He was united in holy matrimony to the late Lena Mae Edmonds for fifty-one years.
Willie started employment in Edgecombe County and later moved to Nash County, where he was employed at George Miller’s Saw Mill during his younger years and transitioned into an auto mechanic for Thompson’s Garage, Murray’s Tire Service, and Taylor’s Exxon until he opened his own garage “Willie’s Tune Up”.
He leaves to cherish his memories: one brother, Curtis Lee Edmonds of Rocky Mount, NC; four daughters, Mary Cheeks and Angie Edmonds of the home, LaTonya Richardson of Rocky Mount, NC and Barbara Jean Scott (Winslow) of Enfield, NC; seven sons, Vernon Cheeks (Shamon) of Rocky Mount, NC, William Cheeks of the home, Calvin Jones (Blondelle) of Whitakers, NC, Michael Jones (Cadine) of Enfield, NC, Hozel Edmonds of Rocky Mount, NC, Haywood Edmonds (Glynis) of Nashville, NC and Willie Lee Edmonds, Jr. of Rocky Mount, NC; twenty-seven grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; a very special niece/caregiver, Rethella Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
