Susie Harris Woodard was born on December 3, 1942 in Nash County, North Carolina to the late James “Jimmy” Ellis and Georgia Stamper Ellis. Susie traveled peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, November 17, 2019.
Susie was educated in the Nash County Public Schools and graduated from Nash Central High School in 1960.
She joined St. Stephen Baptist Church during childhood and that foundation guided her through her lifetime. Her selfless and caring spirit shaped her for a lifelong career as a Dietitian and a private duty caregiver for those needing her supportive services. Upon her retirement in 2004 she continued to use her selfless plight of caring for others as a source of strength and peace even when her own health presented the need for attention.
Susie was proceeded in death by her parents, James “Jimmy” Ellis and Georgia Stamper Ellis and her loving husband, Rudolph Woodard. Susie was the baby girl of twelve children with seven siblings eternally resting with the Lord.
Possessing a true servant’s heart, Susie faithfully cared for her family and friends. A woman of faith and the heart of many. Susie was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her boys and embraced every moment they shared. She especially loved her role as Grandma and Great-grandma. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. Her selfless, giving, compassionate nature will forever be remembered.
