Stanley Aaron Evans, son of the late Elliott “Bud" and Juanita Evans, was born in the Hollister Community of Halifax County, North Carolina on April 5, 1957. He passed away on February 14, 2019 at the Rocky Mount Rehabilitation Center. The Essex/Hollister Community was home to Stanley throughout his life.
Stanley accepted Christ and joined Mount Bethel Baptist Church, Warrenton, North Carolina and was an active member until his health declined.
He was married to the late Corlis Richardson Evans. They had one daughter, Emily, who preceded them in death.
Stanley graduated from Eastman High School, Enfield, North Carolina in 1975. He was a carpenter by trade, finishing was his specialty. He worked for many years with Turn Key Contractors of Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Caretaking came naturally for Stanley. He used that gift by caring for his wife, his dad and his brother, Elton Bland. Throughout Stanley's illnesses and when being cared for by others, he kept a smile and maintained a positive outlook. Watching cowboy movies and game shows and driving his vintage Mustang were his favorite pastimes. However, those things were secondary to his love of family.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, wife and daughter, were his sister, Leacy Ann Silver, and brothers, Jerry “Short Pete”, Arthur Ray and Elton Bland.
Stanley leaves to cherish his memory: his sister, Deanna Richardson (Bobby Lee); three brothers, Elliott (Iris Gail), Phillip (Mary Vivian), and Winfred; four aunts and three aunts-in-law; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, all of whom cared deeply for him.
