Phillinda Alesia Harris-Smith, daughter of Edith Harris Alston and John Earl Cooke, was born on December 7, 1971 in Durham, North Carolina. She departed this life and entered into heavenly rest on Sunday, January 6, 2019.
Phillinda graduated from Louisburg High School, Louisburg, North Carolina and Brookstone College of Business, Greensboro, North Carolina. She was enrolled at Alamance Community College pursuing a Medical Assistant Degree. Phillinda also served our country in the National Guard.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Cooke and stepfather, Pastor Quinton Alston.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Quindetta Harris of the home; two sons, Jamel and Ramel Harris both of the home; six grandchildren, Ki’Ari Adams, Kadin Adams, Royalty Harris, Bella Harris, Marley Harris and Zi’Mere Isley; her mother, Edith Harris Alston of Greensboro, NC; her father, John Earl Cooke (Treva) of Louisburg, NC; her grandmother, Carrie Cooke of Louisburg, NC; six sisters, Tonya Harris, Tammy Cooke, Laura Brown and Chandler Cooke all of Louisburg, NC, Cherissa Alston of Greensboro, NC, Sebrina Butler (Jimmie) of Jamestown, NC; two brothers, John Cooke (Dana) of Bunn, NC and Terrance Long (Yenica) of Zebulon, NC; two aunts, Ann Harrington of Phoenix, AZ and Veronica Harris of Mesa, AZ; five uncles, David Harris (Fiester) of Franklinton, NC, James Massenburg, (Ernestine) of Mebane, NC, John Harris of Louisburg, NC; Timothy Massenburg (Carolyn) of Youngsville, NC and Claude Harris (Jackie) of Knightdale, NC; fifteen nieces and nephews, Daniel, Danielle, Tykia, Montre, Jamaris, Mercedez, Daequan, Omharyan, Ja’Heim, Jaylen, Tamara, Ta’mirah, John, Quan and Nolan; special extended family, Asia Sadler-Hudson, Tiffany Cannady, Dawn Cheek, Melanie Rivera, Jeffrey Mosley, Jessica Phillips, Cashmere Davis and the Ladies of Discretion Social Club; a host of other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.
