Myrine Anstead Boone

June 17, 1919 ~ July 3, 2018 (age 99)

Myrine Anstead Boone was born June 17, 1919 in Warren County, North Carolina. She was the third child born to the late Ollie and Esther Green Anstead. She made her transition on July 3, 2018 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Myrine accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized at Pine Chapel Baptist Church and was one of the oldest members there. Myrine was united in marriage to Willie Boone on June 4, 1938 and to this union five children were born.

Myrine opened “Willie Boone Shoe Store” in the early 1960s and provided a place for people to purchase good quality shoes.  She was an entrepreneur with an angel’s spirit who treated everyone with respect and dignity. As we’ve talked to people over the years, many have stated they don’t know what they would have done without her.  People shopped with her from the surrounding areas as well as across the country as they traveled Highway 561.  She was truly an amazing woman and while being a trailblazer with the store she was always the great wife, mother and grandmother. She managed the household and preparing those delicious meals that were classic.  Breakfast was a tradition with homemade biscuits, cheese-eggs and sausage and this was something we always looked forward to.  Newcomers around the house got a quick lesson on the meaning of “you snooze you lose”! We know you are “Perking” and we are forever grateful for the love you shared with us!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie of sixty-one years, one daughter, Veverly, son-in-law, Lance Rickman, sisters, Edna Cyrus, Edith Harris and Margaret Lynch and brothers, Thurman, Linwood, Morris, James and Ollie.

Myrine leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Evangeline Rickman of Elm City, NC, Betty Richardson (Dewey Perry) of Raleigh, NC, Willie Boone, Jr. of Louisburg, NC, Dorothy King of Raleigh, NC and Carroll Anstead of Durham, NC; nine grandchildren, Tia, Michael (Daniella), Angela, Troy, Keisha (Anthony), Joshua (Amber), Shalonda, Lance and Kacie; seven great grandchildren, Jordan, Kayla, Unique, Alexa, Saniya, Avani and Roman; her beloved sister, Doris Richardson of Hollister, NC; sister-in-law, Pearl Young of Henderson, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
