Catherine Bobbitt was born January 29, 1937 to the late Berney Bobbitt and Zell Williams in Nash County, North Carolina. She departed this life on Sunday, February 10, 2019 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina at the age of eighty-two years old.
Catherine was raised in Nash County and attended Nash County public schools while helping her mother pick cotton in the field.
Catherine professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Community Light Holiness Church in Nashville, North Carolina under the leadership of the Pastor Violet Maryland. Giving her life to Christ was the greatest decision she made. As time progressed, Catherine believed that God had something greater for her and her family. She decided to move her membership to God’s Holy Temple Church. It was there that she accepted the call into the ministry. On July 31, 1991 she received her Minister’s License as an ordained Minister under the leadership of Reverend Sidney Ricks.
After many years of dedication and commitment to God’s work, Catherine yet again believed that God had greater works for her. She joined Church of God of Deliverance under the leadership of the late Apostle Dr. Alice M. Dickens, now under the leadership of Bishop Larry T. Dickens (God’s Salvation Healing & Deliverance Church). Catherine was in the Ministry Department and sang in the Sanctuary Choir. She remained a standing member until her death.
She was preceded in death by her father, Berney Bobbit, mother, Zell Williams and her oldest son, Larry Bobbitt.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a daughter, Rebecca Scott of the home; a son, Dallas Bobbitt of the home; three grandchildren, Phillip Bobbitt (Shonequella), Samuel Scott, Jr. and Tomika Scott; three great grandchildren, Shonnell Yarkeria Bobbitt, Phillip Yarnell Bobbitt Jr. and Alexus Nicole Bobbitt; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
