Laura Bell Kearney, daughter of the late Ira Clemons and Beulah Lewis Clemons, was born January 18, 1936 in Louisburg, North Carolina. She departed this life December 12, 2019.
Laura was educated at the Franklin County Training School.
She joined Timberlake Grove Baptist Church at an early age.
Laura married Lynwood Kearney on September 11, 1961 and worked at Virginia Beach General Hospital for twenty years. She later moved to New York in 1988 after the passing of her husband. Laura retired in 2011 from Flushings Hospital after twenty-three years of service. She returned home to Virginia Beach, Virginia to enjoy life with her two children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Laura was a devoted mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband, Lynwood Pete Kearney, Laura was preceded in death by brothers, Odell Clemons, Ira Clemons, Percy Clemons and Pearly Clemons and sisters, Pattie Clemons and Zelma Clemons.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Laurie M. Hawes (Darrin); her son, Lynwood Vincent Kearney (Dawn); six grandchildren, William A. Kearney, Shawn D. Kearney (Shanitra), Markita N. Kearney-Davis (Daryl), Gerald S. Kearney, Aliyah S. Kearney-Hawes and Angelia C. Kearney; six great grandchildren, Meyasia Kearney, Shawn Kearney, Jr., Carter Kearney-Davis, Stacy Kearney, Nadya Kearney and Destiny Taylor; one sister, Beatrice Burrell of Louisburg, NC; one brother, Wavie Clemons of Springfield, MA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
