Johnny “Big Six” Long, son of the late Robert Long, Sr. and Eula Lee Long, was born May 13, 1946 in Franklin County, North Carolina. He departed this life on August 29, 2019 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Johnny was employed at Summit Lumber Company until 1997 where he retired early due to medical reasons. He was a loving husband, father, PaPa, brother, uncle and friend to many.
Johnny was preceded in death by his son, Willie Williams and siblings, Robert “Toot” Long, Jr. and Bernice “Pinky” Alston.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Dorothy H. Long of the home; his daughter, Sheila Williams Best of Louisburg, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Shermain Williams (Chaquana) of Zebulon, NC, Brittany Green and Briana Cameron both of Louisburg, NC, Tremane Williams of Clarksville, TN; three brothers, Wilbert Long and Glen Long both of Louisburg, NC and Pernell Long (Shirley) of Paterson, NJ; two sisters, Marie Epps of Louisburg, NC and Ernestine Massenburg (James) of Mebane, NC; four brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law; special friends, Leonard “Cookie” Bailey and Adrian Cameron; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
