Ernest Edward Reed, affectionately known as “Buck”, was born on April 26, 1939 to the late James and Elizabeth Massenburg Reed in Louisburg, North Carolina. He departed this life on November 18, 2019 at his home in Louisburg, North Carolina.
Ernest accepted Christ in his youth and joined the Nelson Chapel Baptist Church in Louisburg, North Carolina.
After becoming of age, Ernest moved to Newport News, Virginia to work at the shipyard. He then moved to Rahway, New Jersey and accepted a job with U. S. Sheet Metal for three years. He then changed professions and worked with the Water Department of Rahway, New Jersey for twenty-five years.
He married his devoted wife, Sharon, in 1997. After retiring, they moved back to Louisburg, North Carolina and rededicated his life to Nelson Chapel.
Ernest was preceded in death by one daughter, Yvonne Pringle (Curtis), two uncles, Bruce Young and Shelley Massenburg (Naomi) and three aunts, Hattie A. Stokes, Onnie Yarborough Cromwell and Oza Belle Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Sharon Wilks-Reed of the home; his children, James Edward Reed (Leona) of East Brunswick, NJ, Douglas E. Hopson of California and Sharice Wilks-Jones (Cedrick) of the home; two grandchildren, Joshua Reed of East Brunswick, NJ and Cedaya Jones of the home; three God-children, Romeloh Myers, Kimora Myers and Aloni Atherley; one aunt, Julia Pearl Silver; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
