Deacon Freddie Lee Clifton, son of the late Edward and Bessie Clifton, was born on November 10, 1938 in Franklin County, North Carolina. God lead Freddie home on April 29, 2018 at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Freddie accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Saint’s Delight United Church of Christ. Freddie was Chairman of the Deacon Board, Superintendent of the Sunday School and a member of the Saint’s Delight Inspirational Choir. Freddie also founded the Clifton Brothers.
Freddie loved the Lord and loved singing God’s praises. He was a true musical talent who had been known to compose and sing a song on the spot. Freddie was a fun person who loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. Freddie was also a family man. He loved his family and enjoyed any occasion he could spend with family and friends.
Freddie was a hard worker. Through his work career Freddie held jobs with McDonalds, Gordon Snacks and the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and five brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Dorothy Clifton of the home; one daughter, Linda Yarbrough of the home; two sons, Freddie Clifton, Jr. (Celeste) of Saint Mary’s, Georgia and Thomas Earl Clifton (Sonya) of Louisburg, NC; one stepson, Javon Green (Beatrice) of Louisburg, NC; one sister, Vera Ellis of Louisburg, NC; two granddaughters, Shanda Clifton of Tokyo, Japan and Crystal Clifton of Morrow, GA; two grandsons, Rakeem Yarbrough of Germany (US Air Force) and Justin Yarbrough of Louisburg, NC; two step grandchildren, Javon and Jada Green of Louisburg, NC; one uncle, Freddie Alston (Sandra) of Louisburg, NC; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Anderson and Mary Hayes both of Zebulon, NC and Joanna Hayes of Louisburg, NC; five brothers-in-law, Walter Hayes, Nathaniel Hayes and Harold Hayes all of Louisburg, NC, Melvin Hayes of Durham, NC and Dennis Hayes of Richmond, VA; six nieces and three nephews; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
