Beverly Benita Spivey-Judkins, age 43, passed away peacefully February 8, 2019 at the Mariah Parham Medical Center in Henderson, North Carolina with her family by her side. She was the daughter of Barbara Spivey and the late Elton G. Spivey born November 15, 1975.
Graduating from Louisburg High School in 1994, Beverly went on to become an Aggie at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina on a full Academic and Athletic Scholarship. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Architectural Engineering. Engineering and Mathematics were her niches. She would devote nineteen years of her teaching career to passing this love of engineering and mathematics to students from elementary school to community college.
Beverly taught at Crosscreek Charter School, Terrell Lane Middle School, Louisburg High School and Franklinton High School. She also taught Substitute Teacher Training classes with Vance Granville Community College.
Outside of academics, Beverly was very active in the athletic programs where she served as a Soccer and Track Coach at Louisburg High School, and an Assistant Track Coach at Franklinton High School. Some of her hobbies included: visual arts (painting, drawing, crafting), riding motorcycles, journaling, and natural healing remedies.
Beverly was a dedicated mother, first and foremost. She treasured her time with her children, sisters, nieces, and nephews, supporting them in their endeavors. As a teacher, she also cherished her interactions with her students and fellow staff members. She was always a bright and bubbly person, whose smile could light up any room. She was confident and upfront when talking to people. This was always done in love. Beverly had a spirit of excellence and she wanted those around her to catch that same spirit. She was the most organized and precise person one could ever meet, and she loved “crunching” numbers as she would say.
Beverly was preceded in death by her father, Elton Gray Spivey and nephew, Keenen Dula.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Leonard Judkins of Louisburg, NC; three children, Phoenix Nile Spivey and Leonard Nehemiah Judkins both of Louisburg, NC and Jessica Judkins of Harrisburg, PA; three grandchildren; her mother, Barbara Spivey of Hendersonville, NC; two sisters, Susette McConnell of Louisburg, NC and Jennifer Marshall (Reggie) of Apex, NC; her parents-in-law, George and Hattie Judkins of Bracey, VA; her brothers-in-law, George Judkins of Hyattsville, MD and Samuel Judkins of Carteret, NJ; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; special childhood and college friends, Charmaine Sutton, Kelly Walker, Terrie Gill, Megan Grissett, and Tamara Smith; many other relatives and friends.
