Annette Tucker Alston, daughter of Matthew Louis Tucker and Marjorie Harrison, was born in Nash County, North Carolina on September 7, 1935. She departed this life at UNC Nash Hospital with loved ones by her side on March 3, 2019 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Annette accepted Christ at an early age and joined Social Union Baptist Church where she was a faithful usher. She remained a member until she joined her husband and became a member at Fork Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, Head Usher, Secretary of the Senior Choir, Head of the Hospitality, Treasurer of the Missionary and Mother of the Church. She was recognized for her seventy-two years of dedication to the Usher Ministry. She remained a faithful member until she answered the Master’s call.
Annette was educated in the Nash County School System. Later, she was employed with Louisburg Sportswear and Sun Terrace, as a seamstress. She used her sewing skills to create beautiful dresses for her and her daughters. Annette also loved cooking, which led her to becoming a cook at Louisburg Nursing Center. Her other hobbies included vegetable gardening, sharing produce with family and friends and flower gardening. When not outside, she enjoyed reading the Bible, reading the newspaper and educating her five grandchildren.
In 1956, Annette was united in holy matrimony to Anthony L. Alston. To this union, three children were born.
Annette was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Teressa Richardson and two brothers, Alvin L. Tucker and Will D. Tucker.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of sixty-three years, Anthony L Alston of the home; one daughter, Brenda Richardson (Curtis) of Hollister, NC; one son, Timothy Alston (Nancy) of Louisburg, NC; five grandchildren, Danielle Lassiter (George) of Franklinton, NC, Deidre Richardson of the home, Curston Richardson (Danielle) of Hollister, NC, Michael Alston (Jessica) of Louisburg, NC and Curron Richardson of Hollister, NC; five great grandchildren, A’mari Richardson, Mikyla Alston, Erin Lassiter, Zoey Richardson and George Lassiter, III; two brothers, Johnnie Tucker (Nellie) and Clement Tucker (Carrie) both of Lanham, MD; two sisters-in-law, Betty Williams of Louisburg, NC and Rosa Alston of Richmond, VA; a special sister-in-Christ, Lizzie Lee (Willie) of Louisburg, NC; a host of many other relatives and friends.
